SMT tags are now the herdsman’s first choice! Beef and Dairy producers know they can count on the tags to always show when cows are in “mounting-heat”. The indicator tags have a dark-grey surface that rubs off and reveals the bright orange coloured, synthetic signal layer underneath, other colours will be added soon . The coloured image begins to show under the grey layer after the first mounting, the colour exposure increases with additional mountings. Similarly, in a bid to make the whole process completely automatic, the SMT SYSTEM is a system which scans the tags on the cows electronically using machine vision technology every time they exit the Parlour. The camera is trained to recognize a preset pattern, when the pattern is found the system responds by sending a signal to auto draft the animal to a separate holding pen for insemination. Likewise, if the animal is not in heat, it will not be drafted.

This overall process makes the heat detection of animals truly automatic and allows you to rest assured that you will now catch every heat, every time! An added feature to the SMT SYSTEM is the use of the herd check auto drafting tags. When the herdsman performs a herd check and they notice an animal needs to be sorted from the herd, that is automatic too. All the herdsman has to do is place a drafting tag on the cow, the camera will detect that image and auto draft it too, as an added option, those animals can be drafted to the other side. Animals sorted for insemination on one side, animals to see a veterinarian on the other side.
